In the heart of Ramallah, Art to Heart was founded as a nurturing space for individuals with disabilities to explore artistic expression and community. For years, it provided art education, workshops, and exhibitions for children and adults alike, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their belief in the power of art to build bridges between people, and between people and themselves, was evident in everything they did.
Supported studio programs like Art to Heart aren’t just about making art. They’re about creating environments where people with disabilities can grow in agency, expression, and self-worth. Facilitators at Art to Heart used artistic engagement as a tool for connection, healing, and opportunity—helping participants shape their own stories through color, texture, and form.
As of now, we do not know if Art to Heart is still standing. The ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestine have placed every creative and care-based initiative in jeopardy. The absence of this knowledge is heartbreaking and sobering. What we do know is this: programs like Art to Heart represent the resilience of community and the essential role of art in preserving humanity amid violence and erasure.
