In the heart of Munich, Galerie der Villa stands as a vibrant meeting point where creativity, identity, and inclusion intersect. The gallery is home to Atelier-GDV, a supported studio that provides space, time, and structure for artists with disabilities to develop their practice in a professional context.

🎨 A Studio Rooted in Expression

Atelier-GDV supports around 20 artists who work across media including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media. The focus is not on therapy or distraction, but on supporting individual artistic exploration and sustained creative development. Each artist is encouraged to discover and deepen their personal visual language, often over the course of years.

The facilitation team, made up of artists and educators, takes a non-directive approach. Their role is to respond to the artist’s interests and process, not to lead or prescribe. This respect for autonomy fosters confidence and a sense of ownership over one’s creative path.

🖼️ A Gallery With Purpose

What sets Galerie der Villa apart is the integration of the studio and gallery spaces. Artists working in the studio regularly exhibit their work in the adjoining gallery, which also hosts exhibitions by international outsider artists and creatives from other inclusive programs. This structure not only amplifies visibility but also invites broader public engagement with disability-inclusive arts.

The gallery functions as a platform for exchange - a space where dialogue, diversity, and appreciation of unconventional perspectives are central.

🤝 Building Bridges Beyond the Studio

Galerie der Villa is part of access culture e.V., an organization committed to strengthening inclusive cultural participation in Germany. Through partnerships, publications, and public events, the gallery contributes to a growing movement that values difference as a source of creative richness.

In this way, Galerie der Villa doesn’t just support artists with disabilities - it helps shift cultural narratives about who art is for and what it can be.
