One of the most important aspects of facilitating creativity and expression is recognizing how, when, and where we assign value to experiences—both the smallest details and the grandest moments. It might be the way a sock unfurls perfectly, the repetition of a movement that feels just right, or the overwhelming soundscape of a crowded mall. These moments hold meaning, but often, we don’t stop to consider why.

The first step in creative exploration is noticing when and where value is experienced. Without this awareness, it’s difficult to shape or articulate what we find meaningful. But once we identify it, giving it form—whether through words, images, or movement—becomes much easier.

This process requires humility and a judgment-free mindset. Too often, we are quick to categorize experiences as "important" or "insignificant," but real creativity flourishes when we allow ourselves to observe without filtering. By fostering an open-ended curiosity, we not only enhance our own ability to create but also help others express their experiences in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.

When we begin to notice value in unexpected places, we expand our ability to engage with the world creatively. And in doing so, we make space for deeper connection, both with ourselves and with others.
