In the heart of Columbus, Ohio, Art Outside the Lines (AOTL) offers a vibrant studio where adults with developmental disabilities are empowered to create, connect, and share their voices through art. Operated by Chrysalis Health, the studio provides artists with the space, materials, and support to explore painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media.

AOTL is more than a studio - it’s a bridge between artists and the wider community. The program emphasizes community integration, ensuring that artists not only have opportunities to develop their practice but also to participate in exhibitions, performances, and collaborative projects throughout Columbus. By doing so, the studio positions its artists as active contributors to the city’s cultural life.

What stands out is the atmosphere of collaboration and encouragement. Facilitators at AOTL guide without restricting, helping each artist pursue their own creative direction while offering the support needed to grow. The result is a dynamic environment where artistic risk-taking and personal discovery are celebrated as much as technical skill.

At its core, Art Outside the Lines affirms that creativity is an essential form of communication and connection. For the artists who gather there, the studio is a place of growth and belonging - a community where imagination thrives, differences are honored, and art becomes a shared language.
